RATING/5 | COMMENTS |
Story: 3 | Some unoriginal elements such as evil military men and “humans create something they can’t control”; however great use of the raptors and a nice ending |
Characters: 3 | Generally likable characters that the audience can engage in such as Owen and Claire, but some secondary characters are generic and flat, occasionally the dialogue is awkward |
Acting: 4 | Superb performances by Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Ty Simpkins; however some secondary characters weren’t on the same level |
Cinematography: 5 | Exhilarating and breathtaking views of the park, as well as many suspenseful scenes between the characters and the Indominus rex |
Animation/special effects: 4 | Dinosaurs look completely real and some are absolutely terrifying, less realistic when the dinosaurs pick up people |
Music: 5 | Michael Giacchino’s soundtrack adds on to John William’s iconic score, creating amazing tension and nostalgic chills |
Creativity: 3 | Although the main plot is relatively unoriginal, the design of the Indominus rex and the rides of the park are quite innovative |
Entertainment: 5 | Almost as much as the original film, Jurassic World is suspenseful, thrilling and engaging from start to finish |
TOTAL: 32/40 = 80%
Although I may have rated this movie higher just because of Chris Pratt (#mancrusheveryday), Jurassic World is far from bad and is a great addition to the Jurassic Park series.
Critics reviews: 7.4/10 (IMDB), 71% (Rotten Tomatoes), 59% (Metacritic)
